Bass Performance Hall

BPH_2.jpgBass Performance Hall is the crown jewel of Fort Worth which boasts the nation's third largest cultural district. It is also an important symbol of one of the most successful downtown revitalization efforts in the country. Built entirely with private funds, Bass Performance Hall is the home to the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth Opera, and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and Cliburn Concerts.

The 2,056-seat multipurpose Hall is characteristic of the classic European opera house form. An 80-foot diameter Great Dome tops the Founders Concert Theater while two 48-foot tall angels grace the Grand Facade. Since the Hall opened in May 1998, the angels have become preeminent cultural icons of the Dallas-Fort Worth community. The Hall itself is renowned for its superb acoustics, exceptional sight lines, and warm ambience on level with the great halls of the world.

Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

Modern_2.jpgThe Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth's building was designed by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando. The Modern is located in Fort Worth's celebrated Cultural District, directly opposite the Kimbell Art Museum, designed by Louis I. Kahn, and near the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, designed by Philip Johnson. Ando's design, which embodies the pure, unadorned elements of a modern work of art, is comprised of five long, flat-roofed pavilions situated on a 1.5 acre pond.

The Modern maintains one of the foremost collections of postwar art in the central United States, consisting of more than 2,600 significant works of modern and contemporary international art. The Modern features 53,000 square feet of gallery space. Its 250-seat auditorium is home to an eclectic array of events, from recital and chamber performances to a popular independent film series.

In addition to almost doubling the Museum's existing gallery space, the new building will provide dedicated classrooms, an expanded library, generous underground parking, and a 298-seat auditorium. This auditorium will have superior acoustics for musical performances. With the wall behind the stage completely glazed, visitors to the space will enjoy natural light from a deep and broad concrete light well with a slanted concrete wall, which provides a spectacular backdrop.
