“Italian pianist Beatrice Rana gave an immaculate performance… She will become an artist one will want to keep an ear on.” –Washington Post
For performances heralded as “intensely personalized music-making” (Dallas Morning News), 21-year-old Italian pianist Beatrice Rana won the Silver Medal and the Audience Award at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2013. Since then, she continues to build a reputation for sophisticated interpretations of emotional depth, prompting Gramophone magazine to proclaim that she “possesses an old soul that belies her 20 years, and more than a touch of genius.” Highlights of her 2015–2016 season include performances with the Philadelphia, London Philharmonic, Queensland Symphony, and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestras; the Verbier and Flâneries Musicales de Reims Festivals; and recitals throughout Europe. She was named “One to Watch” by International Piano magazine in 2013 just before her Cliburn appearance, and her artistry was highlighted again in the magazine’s “30 under 30” list in 2014. Ms. Rana recently finished recording the Prokofiev Concerto No. 2 and Tchaikovsky Concerto No. 1 with the Accademia di Santa Cecilia and Antonio Pappano for Warner Classics. This disc will join her acclaimed solo recordings previously released by harmonia mundi (2013) and ATMA Classique (2012).
