For performances that were “flawlessly paced, beautifully detailed and emotionally powerful” (Dallas Morning News), Russian pianist Nikita Mndoyants finished among the top six of the 2013 Cliburn Competition, 36 years after his father also won a Cliburn prize. Also an active composer, Mr. Mndoyants also received first prize at the third Myaskovsky International Competition of Composers in 2014, and his works have been performed by Daniel Hope, Nicolas Stavy, the Szymanowski and Zemlinsky Quartets, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, and others. This season, Mr. Mndoyants was commissioned by the Arizona Friends of Chamber Music to write a piano quintet, which will have its world premiere in November 2015, with the Zemlinsky Quartet. Other U.S. dates include stops in New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Georgetown. Internationally, he enters his fourth year as artist in residence at the International Music Festival in Wissembourg and gives recitals at the Mariinsky Concert Hall, Rachmaninov Hall, and for the Orel and Tula Philharmonic Societies.
