Twenty-six-year-old Bulgarian pianist Evgeni Bozhanov’s sophisticated interpretations, clear tones, and ability to express the nuances of the music at hand have resulted in numerous top prizes at competitions around the world, including most recently, second prize at the prestigious 2010 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Brussels. In 2009, he was a finalist at the Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth and received the Steven De Groote Memorial Award for the Best Performance of Chamber Music for his performance of Franck’s Piano Quintet in F-Minor with the Takács Quartet. In addition to these prizes, he was awarded second prize at the 2008 Sviatoslav Richter International Piano Competition in Moscow, and first prizes at the 2008 Alessandro Casagrande, 2006 Carl Bechstein, and 2004 Chopin International Piano Competitions.
