Barry Douglas, piano

“Douglas is a pianist who knows how to produce tremendous power, but he also knows how to produce a lightened, clear line with a mastery of the keyboard that allows for equally breathtaking playing in the transparent sections.” -La Repubblica

Since taking bronze at the Seventh Cliburn Competition in 1985 and a subsequent gold medal win at the International Tchaikovsky Competition the following year, Barry Douglas has established a major international career as a concert pianist, conductor, and recording artist. A 2002 recipient of the Order of the British Empire, he is also founder and artistic director of Camerata Ireland, an all-Irish chamber orchestra.

Program: BRAHMS Klavierstücke, op. 119; SCHUBERT Wanderer Fantasy; BRAHMS Waltzes, op. 39; BRAHMS Sonata No. 3 in F Minor, op. 5

The performance by Barry Douglas is sponsored by Northern Trust.
