The screening audition recitals for the Thirteenth Competition were overseen by a distinguished five-member jury. Screenings were held in six major cities worldwide: Shanghai, China; Hannover, Germany; Lugano, Switzerland; St. Petersburg, Russia, New York, New York; and Fort Worth, Texas.
151 young pianists between the ages of eighteen and thirty performed in the recitals, which were comprised of forty-minute programs.
