The Cliburn's new Web site
Since its inception in 1962, the Cliburn has consistently worked to stay ahead of the ever-advancing technological curve. In 1997, the Competition featured a live online audio stream; in 2007, the organization held an online video contest for amateur pianists; and in 2009, the Competition presented a hosted webcast that drew viewers from 157 countries/territories. Now, to celebrate its 50th Anniversary, the Cliburn has launched its newly designed Web site.
Helping to carry out the organization's mission of promoting the finest in classical music, the site employs the most up-to-date technology available. With rich content and new features, the updated Web site allows visitors from around the world to connect with the Cliburn. Visitors can engage with the Foundation, learning about its history through a comprehensive, searchable archive allowing visitors to search the Cliburn's complete performance history by artist, year, repertoire, country, or age. They can also share their memories and experiences with other Cliburn supporters in the new Share Your Story section. A continually-updated news feed and calendar help viewers stay current with the latest information on the Foundation and the competition winners.
The Cliburn will continue to roll out new features for the remainder of its 50th celebratory year. These features will include an interactive audio/visual timeline of the first 50 years, a media library, giving guests free access to an expansive collection of photos, videos, and audio performances, a mobile app that includes streaming audio and video, an updated gift shop complete with digital music downloads, and an expanded education section providing resources for teachers and students.
In these ways, the new Cliburn.org will help us preserve our legacy while allowing visitors like you to interact with us in more meaningful and complete ways.
The Cliburn thanks Lockheed Martin and the National Endowment for the Arts for their support in funding the new Cliburn.org
We hope you enjoy the new features and content!
