Sandra Doan named Director of Artistic Planning

FORT WORTH, Texas, January 25, 2011---David Chambless Worters, President & CEO of the Van Cliburn Foundation, announced today that Sandra Doan will become the Cliburn's director of artistic planning effective immediately. In this capacity, Ms. Doan will be responsible for the career management of the Cliburn Competition winners and will oversee the production of the flagship Cliburn Concerts series, the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and the International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs™.

In making the announcement, Mr. Worters said, "We are impressed with Sandra's passion and commitment to the Cliburn mission. Drawing on her wealth of knowledge and experience, Sandra has proven herself a vital and indispensable part of the Cliburn team. We look forward to working with her in this new position, delivering the best in classical music to North Texas and continuing the Cliburn's unwavering commitment to excellence."

In accepting the appointment, Ms. Doan commented, "It is a great privilege and honor to take on this new role with the Cliburn. I am excited to continue working with our talented young musicians and helping to foster their careers, all the while bringing the best classical musicians to audiences in the Fort Worth area."

Biography
A Fort Worth native, Ms. Doan has been with the Cliburn since May 2010 in the position of artist liaison. During that time she coordinated the production of the Cliburn's many concerts, both on artistic and logistical levels, while also managing the tours of the Cliburn Competition winners.

An accomplished pianist herself, Ms. Doan graduated with degrees in music and economics from TCU. She received a performance certificate from the prestigious Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary, where she studied as a Fulbright scholar. Most recently Ms. Doan completed a joint MA/MBA degree in arts management at Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business and Meadows School of the Arts.
