Medici.tv partners for #cliburn2017 Webcast

The Cliburn announces a major new media partnership with Paris-based medici.tv—the leading classical-music video broadcaster in the world—that will greatly expand the global audience for the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, May 25–June 10, 2017.

The #cliburn2017 webcast will encompass over 110 hours of live performances, announcements, interviews, featurettes, and other behind-the-scenes footage. All content will be available both live and on demand for free to viewers across the world on the Cliburn’s homepage at Cliburn.org, as well as the specially designed microsite cliburn2017.medici.tv—which will also host a variety of editorial content in English, Russian, French, and Chinese. Viewership is expected to top 5 million during the three-week period.

The webcast will be hosted by dynamic piano duo Anderson & Roe (Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe). Called “the very model of complete 21st-century musicians” by The Washington Post, these two revoluntionary performers are well known to Cliburn audiences: they hosted the webcast for the 2015 Cliburn Junior Competition, and have performed in Cliburn Concerts, and Ms. Roe was a competitor in the 2005 Cliburn Competition.

Medici.tv produces and broadcasts more than 100 live concerts and 1,800 programs each year in collaboration with the world’s greatest orchestras and other classical musicians.

Medici’s broadcasts and on-demand services are experienced by hundreds of thousands of viewers, including 300,000 members from 182 nations and 200,000 social media followers. Its reach is particularly strong in Europe and in Asia, where music fans experience the finest concerts in the world on Medici’s website, on YouTube, and via the company’s smartphone and tablet applications.

Medici takes viewers inside the most prestigious concert halls, presenting landmark performances by stars such as Gustavo Dudamel, Valery Gergiev, Plácido Domingo, Renee Fleming, Yuja Wang, Lang Lang, Daniel Barenboim, and Joshua Bell, to name only a few.

Now the Cliburn and the 30 competitors of the 2017 Cliburn Competition will join that illustrious roster, along with the Leonard Slatkin, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and Bass Performance Hall.
